NITROFURAN METABOLITES IN ANIMAL PRODUCTS BY LC/MS/MS
Nitrofurans are analyzed as their respective metabolites: AOZ, AMOZ, AHD,and SEM in a range of food matrices. These metabolites are obtained by acid hydrolysis, derivatization using 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, and cleanup. The extract is then analyzed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) at practical quantitation limits well below the European Union MRPL of 1 µg/kg.
